Tom Brokaw coined the term “The Greatest Generation” describing the generation that grew up during the Great Depression and lived through World War II. I would like to suggest that there is a subset of that “Greatest Generation” that is even GREATER. Maybe we can call it the super duperest? Its the Nisei that I’m referring to. The Nisei as part of the “Greatest Generation” had the same troubles (poverty, war, death) and ON TOP OF that had to deal with prejudice, incarceration and loss of property/jobs.
Today, on the anniversary of the date that would change their lives/communities/families forever, we should honor all those that lived through the war and its aftermath.
