Executive Producer/Director/Writer/Editor
As the Creator and Producer of this project, Kimiko Marr was always interested in creating a film to showcase the personal stories of her Japanese-American heritage. She grew up listening to her grandmother’s stories about her own childhood and that of other family members. Kimiko’s background and years of experience in feature film and television production allowed for the idea of a documentary film to become a reality as she began to research her own family’s history. Her commitment to keep the stories of the past alive has been further motivated by her beloved grandmother’s recent passing. Kimiko’s journey to uncover stories from the past has taken her to many new places and introduced her to many amazing people, including volunteering at the Watsonville Senior Center and attending the Friends and Family of Nisei Veterans reunion in Las Vegas. She is doing what she truly loves and is excited to share the experiences that those in the documentary shared with her.
